ST. MONICA’S PRAYER GROUP
Do you have a loved one away from the church?
August 27 is the feast day of St. Monica
A prayer group was formed with the intention of praying for our loved ones who are away from the church.
St. Monica is the patron saint of Mothers. She prayed for her son, St. Augustine, for 30 yrs. before he returned to the faith in the year 387. She died later that year.
St. Monica is also the patron saint of wives. She was married to a pagan and through her patience and prayers she was able to convert her husband and mother- in-law to the Catholic faith in the year 370. Her husband died a year later.
Matthew 18:20 “For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” With this verse in mind we gather in small groups, meeting whenever and wherever it works for 2 or more people to meet each week. We also commit to praying to St. Monica daily for the list of loved ones away from the church.
There have been many miracles attributed to St. Monica, who is a great model of patience and persistence in prayer. There is much need in our lives today for the same patience in prayer. If you are interested in praying for those away from the church please call Rene Borchers at 918-299-4924 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
