Meet Cheryl & Don Schendt.

Donor, Volunteer, St. Bernard Parishioner

Retired accountant, Don Schendt, has shared his expertise for the past 10 years by helping with accounts payable.

Cheryl Schendt, a dietician, has been a helping hand and smiling face in Catholic Charities’ clothing center for the past year and a half.

Coming to Catholic Charities on a weekly basis is a labor of love for this servant-hearted couple.

“Volunteering in the accounting department and clothing center at Catholic Charities allows us
to share our time, talents and love with the clients and other volunteers,” the Schendts said. “It is heartwarming to experience ‘faith in action’ by providing assistance and friendship to all who come to Catholic Charities.”

Meet Barry Corum.

Donor, Volunteer, St. Bernard Parishioner

“Every time I volunteer, I witness love changing lives.”

That’s how Barry describes his experience as a volunteer at Catholic Charities...and love changing lives is exactly what we strive to be every day.

After retiring from the pipeline construction eld, Barry wanted to give back to his community...and being Catholic, Catholic Charities was the logical place for him to dig in. As a caseworker in Emergency Assistance and in preparing and serving hot meals for the hungry in Catholic Charities’ kitchen, Barry has been a dedicated volunteer for over a year.

“Through volunteering, I share and experience Christ’s merciful love - the mission of Catholic Charities. I am blessed to be able to serve my community in a rewarding way as part of a wonderful team.”
