General News

The Parish of St. Bernard of Clairvaux is an open and welcoming community. It is true that in today’s environment it is important to consider the possibility of unexpected emergencies. The “Active-Shooter” scenario is much in the news, and we at St. Bernard’s believe that it is important to be aware of what we should do if the unthinkable happens here, or in a mall, a school, or any public space.

The Diocese of Tulsa recently hosted a training session for parish staff, ushers, and other leaders within the diocese. The workshop was presented by the Tulsa SWAT team. Proactive education is probably the best thing we can do for ourselves and our families. Please find attached a link to a short video called “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT.” It was produced by the Houston police department in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We encourage all our parishioners to watch the video and to share it with family and friends. We will work with our staff and Parish and Finance Councils to make sure St. Bernard’s continues to be proactive in our emergency planning.
