PORTA CAELI HOUSE
Are you looking for a way to serve others this Advent and Christmas season or in the New Year? The Porta Caeli House is a home on the campus of Catholic Charities that provides a place for individuals in the last days or weeks of their lives. Guests are served regardless of race, illness, faith or financial status. Porta Caeli House shows Christ’s merciful love to guests and their families in a loving environment, enables dying with dignity, and re-establishes the concept in the broader community that dying is the natural conclusion of life on this earth, not something to be feared or avoided.
One of the many services provided is meals for the residents and their families. Porta Caeli House is looking for volunteers to fill the calendar for meals at lunch and dinner on a daily basis. Helping out is quite easy! Go to the website below and sign up for a meal. Prepare the meal for 10-12 people and take it hot and ready to serve at 11:30 for lunch or 4:30 for dinner or drop it off early (or frozen if needed). Use disposable containers, leave it in the kitchen at the Porta Caeli House and be on your way. It's that easy! No need to stay and serve or clean up. Enjoy praying for the dying while preparing a meal that will provide nourishment and comfort to those who partake of it.
