Pastoral Ministry Degree (30 hours)
Newman University, in cooperation with the Pastoral Studies Institute, offers this degree in Pastoral Ministry for adults in the Diocese of Tulsa. Individuals who already have one bachelor’s degree can take the required thirty (30) hours of theology course work and receive a second bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry.
THEO 4023: Theology and Methods of Ministry
This course offers a foundational theology of ministry as rooted in Baptism. Particular focus will be given to the role of the laity in ministry and various types of ministry will be explored. This course will provide the experience and formation necessary for students to grasp the meaning of ministry as well as learn a variety of ministerial skills.

THEO 3055: Sacramental Theology
A consideration of the Church community as sacrament-sign and cause-of Christ in the world today. Notions to be explored in this class include an understanding and appreciation of sacramentality and religious ritual and symbol. These understandings will provide the basis for an in-depth reflection on the seven sacramental actions of the Church from both a historical and a contemporary point of view.
