Lectio Divina

~~What is the School of Lectio Divina?  It is a seminar/ retreat offered by the Benedictine Sisters at St. Joseph Monastery, 2200 South Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK 74114.  Lectio Divina or "Divine Reading" refers to a way of praying with the Bible which is a rediscovered prayer practice from the early Christian centuries.  The fall seminar is scheduled for September 28, 7:00PM followed by September 29 - October 1, 8:30AM - 3:30PM.  Registration is open and encouraged for all who have a desire to deepen an awareness of God's presence and grace in our ordinary, everyday life.  More informatio...

Works of the Heart

~~WORKS OF HEART COMMEMORATIVE PORTRAITS  Fellow St. Bernard parishioner and local Tulsa artist, Amy Whitaker, would like to extend an offer for a FREE 11x14 pencil portrait to any Oklahoma family who has lost a loved one in the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. Amy began this charitable project in 2007 and Masters House Art and Frame of Moore, Oklahoma, provides a beautiful custom frame for the piece as well. Amy is the artist who drew Father Jewitt and Virgina Johnson's portraits for the church and most recently drew Msgr. Gaalaas. ~~TEACHING RELIGION CLASSES  Have  you ever taught a Religion Class or have you ever considered it?  We have an opportunity at St. Bernard’s for you to grow in your faith and to share the message of  Christ with our children and our youth—Ages 3 through the 12th grade.  Teaching is the greatest way to learn.  Think about it...pray about it...then volunteer and learn.  We will have an orientation meeting on Wednesday, August 31, at 6:30 p.m. with pizza to give out all teaching materials and to cover the nuts and bolts of teaching Religious Education at St. Bernards.
