Marriage & Weddings

"Take this ring, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

Marriage is the sacred union of a man and woman that comes from the hand of God. In other words, God invented marriage, not man. By creating us male and female, God inscribed the call to marriage in our very being. This is not the truth just for Catholics but for all persons. It’s the way were made.

Marriage in the Catholic Church is a Sacrament. Much more than just a contract, it is a covenant between a husband and wife ordered to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. As such, the love between a husband and wife should point to the love God has for his people. By faithfully living their marriage covenant, couples help build the Kingdom of God by making manifest his love.

"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." (Code of Canon Law, can. 1055 §1; cf. Gaudium et Spes 48 §1.)

WEDDINGS

Getting married at St. Bernard’s?  Congratulations!  And here’s some information that should be helpful in planning your music:

Contact Organist/Music Director (Anne at 918-671-0779) and arrange a consult time well in advance of your wedding date.  This should take about 15 minutes.
When choosing music for your wedding ceremony, remember that all music should reflect the reverence and dignity of this sacred union.
If you desire music not familiar to the organist and cantor, please provide music in desired key.
Because wedding stipends are considered part of the St. Bernard musicians’ salaries, and because we have much invested in our sound system and music instruments, use of musicians outside of the Parish of St. Bernard is not permitted without permission of the Organist/Music Director.
Standard Fees:

Organist $175

Cantor    $175

Rehearsal with musicians outside of the parish  $50
